READI-RIDE RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS

The City of Dixon’s public transit service, Readi-Ride, is continuing to monitor and assess the status of COVID-19 and its impact in Solano County as well as National transit services. The COVID-19 virus continues to present challenges to the transit culture and the City must take into consideration both Staff and public safety. Staff must fulfill the need of providing mobility to the public, including those considered a higher risk of infection, all while mitigating the exposure of the novel Coronavirus.

Readi-Ride has increased cleaning and disinfecting procedures and developed ways to limit surface exposure on the buses. In order to maintain and encourage social distancing requirements, a number of rows will be taped off throughout the buses. The City also reminds the public to follow the County’s Shelter-at-Home order and only request transportation if needed for essential travel/services (i.e. grocery shopping, doctor’s appointments, etc.). Readi-Ride is also limiting the number of riders per bus, at this time with decreased ridership; we do not expect to see a noticeable change in previous wait times. In addition, to limit driver exposure, drivers are assigned individual buses and hardware. We ask the public to follow County Health guidelines, to remain home if displaying symptoms, and remind the public that if symptoms of illness are displayed staff has the right to refuse service.

Staff would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while we continue to monitor and mitigate the challenges presented during this time.
